Tourtiere
This recipe is perfect to feed a hungry group. It’s made for a deep dish pie plate, so if you don’t have one, you may want to half the recipe.
- 2 pkgs of Springbrook ground pork
- 2 potatoes, grated
- 2 onions, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp celery salt
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup water
- 1 double pie crust
1. Place all ingredients except for the pie crust in a large pot and boil for 20 minutes. Put into a glass bowl, cover and refrigerate overnight if possible. (It gives the flavours a chance to “meld” together.)
2. Preheat oven to 400 F, roll out crust. Spoon in pie filling, slashing the top crust to allow heat to escape, and bake for 45 minutes.
3. Cool for 15 minutes before serving. Serves 8-10 people
